About myage.is
A memento-mori age engine disguised as a calculator. Built by Diaz, from Ireland.
Every age calculator does the same basic arithmetic — but most stop at a single number. myage.is exists because that number is more interesting with context: how it compares to a national average, how it stacks up against a public figure's life, what it looks like laid out as a grid of weeks. The goal isn't to be morbid — it's to make time a little more visible, so it's easier to notice while it's still passing.
Where the numbers come from
Exact age is calculated directly from calendar arithmetic — no rounding, no external data source. See how exact age math actually works.
Life expectancy figures are UN Population Division estimates (World Population Prospects, 2019 revision), rounded for readability. They're national statistical averages, not predictions for any individual — see how life expectancy is actually calculated.
Public figures' birth/death dates and biographies are sourced from Wikidata and Wikipedia. Given the scale of that dataset (thousands of entries), occasional errors are possible — if you spot one, it traces back to an error in the underlying Wikidata record.
Pet age conversion uses a size/breed-aware curve, not the old "multiply by seven" approximation — still a rule of thumb, not veterinary advice.
What this site is not
Nothing on myage.is is medical, actuarial, or financial advice. Averages describe populations, not individuals — genetics, lifestyle, healthcare access, and plain luck move any one person's outcome far more than a birthday ever could.
